Extinguisher Parts

Reliable Maintenance

Maintenance performed with Getz Equipment, the industry standard for servicing portable extinguishers. Valve rebuilds done with OEM parts. All parts are included in service price, no additional line items for service or inspection parts.

Extinguisher Maintenance Tips:

  • Read the User Manual:
Start by familiarizing yourself with the user manual that comes with your fire extinguisher. This document provides valuable information on the specific type of extinguisher you own and outlines manufacturer-recommended maintenance guidelines.

  • Monthly Visual Inspection:
Perform a quick visual inspection of your fire extinguisher each month. Check for obvious signs of damage, such as dents, rust, or leaks. Ensure that the pressure gauge indicates the correct pressure level, typically in the green zone.

  • Check the Certification Date:
Fire extinguishers have a finite lifespan. Check the certification date on the extinguisher tag, and if it's expired, call us for inspection immediately. Expired extinguishers may not function correctly in an emergency.

  • Ensure Accessibility:
Confirm that your fire extinguisher is easily accessible and not obstructed by objects. In case of a fire, quick access to the extinguisher is crucial. Make sure everyone in the vicinity knows its location.

  • Inspect the Hose and Nozzle:
Examine the hose and nozzle for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure that there are no blockages in the nozzle, and the hose is free from kinks or cracks. A clear pathway for the extinguishing agent is essential for effective firefighting.

  • Professional Servicing:
While monthly checks are essential, professional servicing is equally important. Schedule an annual inspection by a certified fire safety professional. They will perform a thorough examination, conduct necessary tests, and address any issues that may have arisen over time.

  • Training and Education:
Educate household members or employees on the proper usage of fire extinguishers. Familiarize them with the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) and the types of fires each extinguisher is designed to combat. Training enhances response time and overall effectiveness during emergencies.

Why Extinguishers?

First Line of Defense:

  • Fire extinguishers serve as the first line of defense against small fires, providing individuals with the means to control and extinguish flames before they escalate. Quick response with a properly functioning fire extinguisher can prevent minor incidents from turning into major disasters.

Protection of Lives and Property:

  • The primary goal of fire extinguishers is to protect lives and property. Having easily accessible and well-maintained extinguishers ensures that people can respond promptly in case of a fire, minimizing the risk of injuries and property damage.

Legal Compliance:

  • Many regulatory standards and building codes mandate the installation of fire extinguishers in various settings. Compliance with these regulations not only ensures the safety of occupants but also helps organizations avoid legal consequences and penalties.

Fire Containment:

  • Fire extinguishers are designed to contain and control fires in their early stages. Different types of extinguishers are suitable for various types of fires (Class A, B, C, etc.), making them versatile tools for handling different fire scenarios.
